The courtyard of the Accoules
This “fun museum” is dedicated to the discovery of art by the youngest.
They develop its exhibitions in an exceptional setting, the hall of the Academy of Arts, Sciences and Belles Lettres of Marseille. This room with a column surmounted by a flat vault of rare architectural quality was built in 1781-1783 by Esprit Joseph Brun, an architect then very active in the province, and in particular in Marseille. She loves herself in the old observatory, built in 1702 by the Jesuits on the summit of the mound of the Accoules. It now houses fun exhibitions for an original approach to the object of art. The program focuses mainly on the discovery of the rich heritage of the museums of Marseille and addresses various themes, archeology, fine arts, history, regional heritage. Each year, a theme is chosen around which an exhibition is organized, enriched by various events, shows and meetings. Accommodation is studied for each audience, school family, specific public group. The discovery can be made in visits, workshops or free visits.
